Challenging!

That's the word for today; challenging!

To date, eating raw food and green smoothies has been simple, until today.  I hit the wall and was craving sweets, then something really salty.  My cravings were so strong for cooked food. I was thinking how much chips sounded so tasty; the Kettle brand salt and pepper chips….oh yum!  Then I started thinking how I'm not sure if I can continue on raw food, because I love cooked food so much.  I could stay a vegan easily, but raw foodist; I'm not so sure.

This certainly doesn't sound like the motivated woman a few days ago that decided to stick to the 90 day raw food challenge and lose weight, get healthy, and stop the cravings.

What changed?

I had to ask myself that question today.  What has changed to create this shift in my thinking?  Physically, my food tasted awful all day long.  I made a green smoothie today that was different than usual and the texture was just awful.  The taste was just okay, but not the award winning green smoothies from the last several days.


Note to self, “Stick to recipes”.  Recipes are my friend until I can master the taste for combining complimentary flavors of fruit and greens together.

Next I decided to make a raw tahini dressing to drizzle over my beautiful salad.  Unfortunately, I added too much raw agave nectar, making the dressing a tad too sweet.  I can't stand sweet dressings.  Typically, adding the agave nectar would just jazz up the flavor, kind of like when you add salt to something sweet, but this time was disastorous.  Then I decided to make a strawberry lime sorbet, but I didn't let the lime blend completely, thus chunks of lime dotted my beautiful strawberry lime sorbet.

To wrap it up, it was a horrible food day and probably the reason for my cravings.  I still don't know if I can eat only raw food once the challenge is complete, but I do know that I will stay raw until the 90 days are complete.  I want to give the challenge the opportunity to teach me something that I might not have learned otherwise.
