Today was my first day of Phase 3 Big Breakfast on the Ideal Protein Diet.

I have to admit, I was so looking forward to this moment!!!  I mean adding complex carbs like fruit, dairy and grains seems so sensual to me and an absolute treat!  Funny how when you are in the throws of eating like crap you don't think about fruit and grains as being a treat.  How times have changed! Bicycled 23 Miles and Burned 1,332 Calories

It was such a beautiful day outside, though the wind was kicking up a bit.  I decided to head out for a bicycle ride – leaving Lily at home this time so I could get some mileage in rather than pulling her trailer.

I was able to ride for 23 miles and burned a whopping 1,332 calories! (more…)

Well I didn't make my goal this week of being under 170 lbs, but I still lost weight – albeit only .4 lbs, but hey – it's moving in the right direction!

I'm headed out for a bike ride today for a couple of hours and I'm finally able to fit in my bicycling shirt without my rolls spilling over.  (more…)

You may – or may not – have noticed that I didn't post Week 34 and 35 weight loss results and skipped right to Week 36.  Well, I was in a bit of a funk with my plateau.  I should have posted even during the plateau, but I just was feeling up to it.

Switching from Ideal Protein to the Atkins Diet

I've officially decided to move on over to the Atkins Diet with a hybrid of IP. It's essentially the same diet, just eating my own foods. I'll stay away from processed foods and eat whole foods.

This came about from another visit to my doctor yesterday. Nothing is wrong with IP and I could probably stay on it for the remaining 40 lbs I need to lose, but my body isn't used to the packaged foods and I'm not getting enough nutrients even with taking extra supplements. Well – this is going to be one of those weeks where I tell you how my weight loss has plateaued.  I've only lost 5 lbs in the last 4 weeks – half of my normal loss.  I could be upset – but I'm not – I'm actually thankful that this is the first time I've really plateaued since losing almost 80 lbs.  It's actually pretty incredible!

So – to get myself out of the plateau I needed to change it up.  Some diets call for a cheat meal or day once a week, but I'm not willing to cheat so instead I went out and ran two days in a row and ate an extra 2-3 small meals each day. (more…)

Week 32 Ideal Protein Diet Weight Loss Weigh-In

I had a tearful moment this last week.  It was tears of joy. I desperately needed clothes and I own one shorts, one capri pants (that are falling off of my hips…speaking of hips I can see my hip bone now when I lay down…lol) and needed just a few shorts for the summer.

So at the store today I tried on a size 12 for grins and it fit…all of the size 12s fit!!! I was shocked and couldn't believe it. (more…)
