Well here I am, 7 weeks into losing weight on the Ideal Protein Diet. It’s the easiest diet I’ve ever been on. Truly!
I don’t have to count calories, keep up with points, figure out how many hours I need to exercise to burn off my calories I’ve eaten, or starve myself.
Life is good.
I’m reaching my goals.
I’m feeling stronger.
I’m being supported with all of the other people I know on Ideal Protein through my coach and through the 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet website.
My goal of reaching 124 lbs seems attainable to me now, whereas when I first started I was unsure. I had no idea what to expect with this diet and because I had failed at all other attempts at dieting and my inner mean girl was saying, “Oh this is just another diet” or “Here we go again, prepackaged food, weekly weigh-ins, the hype of other people saying it was their last diet. Sure it was their last diet – they probably only had 10 freakin’ pounds to lose.” The truth – many of these people had lost 70+ lbs – not 10. I was humbled.
Now, I truly believe this is my last diet. Now I understand what the hype is all about. Take that inner mean girl!
The last several weeks have been interesting with my weight loss and health. TOM lasted for 3 weeks and in the last week of TOM I came down with the flu for 2 weeks. So a total of 4 weeks of weirdness.
During those 4 weeks I lost 10.2 lbs and my muscle mass and fat mass where going in crazy directions. I shouldn’t be losing much muscle mass on Ideal Protein – it should mostly come from fat. During these 4 weeks at the start of TOM I gained 5 lbs in muscle mass, lost 7 lbs in fat, for a total of 2 lbs lost on the scale. That is just weird!
Then after being on TOM for 3 weeks, it went the other direction – I lost 5 lbs of muscle and gained 1 lb of fat and in the 4th week (no TOM and tail end of the flu) I lost only .6 lbs; however I lost 6.8 lbs of fat and gained 5.8 lbs of muscle. So from what I understand, this is water weight when the muscle either gains or loses like this, because the muscles hold water.
