Last Friday I turned 42. I say this not for people to wish me well, but to say that I’m so incredibly happy that I don’t have to be upset that I’m 42 and still not losing weight. I can enjoy that I’m headed down an incredible, beautiful road and already in the journey.
I’m happy that I didn’t set an unrealistic expectation to be done losing weight by 42.
Been there – done that – it didn’t work for me.
When I get to my goal – I’ll get to it – whenever that date is. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that I decided on 11/27/12 to start this journey, lose weight, and listen to my Inner Skinny Chick.
What matters is that I’m happy to be turning 42 and finally meeting the most difficult goal I’ve ever faced. The weight loss is the easy part – it’s the inner dialogue and struggle that I’m finally facing.
I can face this birthday and be happy that I’ll never face another year being upset over not doing something about my weight.
It feels good turning 42.
Wow – now check this out. Usually after a birthday celebration I would eat foods that weren’t healthy, stuff myself because I “deserved” it – after all it’s my birthday – and feel miserable afterwards.
This year I stayed on program, hiked, cycled, and walked to celebrate my birthday. Now today – my first day back to work from vacation and birthday celebration – I put on my black slacks and what do you know – they are loose – not tight from overeating.
Now that’s a birthday celebration NSV!! Just one of my changes I’ve made through the year. This feeling is incredible. I’d rather have this feeling and emotion than the past ones of being upset that I “oops I did it again” (in the famous words of Brittany Spears – can’t believe I’m quoting Brittany Spears) and overate.

Main goal to get to 124 lbs. Look, my cycle chick is almost to the half way mark – she’s a little slow these days, but it’s all about the journey.
4th Mini Goal is to be at my lowest weight in 18 years – 170 lbs.

- Weight Loss for the week: -2.2 lbs
- Inches Lost for the week: -2.5 inches
- Total Weight Loss in 25 weeks: -64.8 lbs
- Total Inches Lost in 25 weeks: -64.75 inches
More interesting weight loss stats:
- Dropped from 52.9% body fat to 41.60%
- Fat mass dropped from 136 lbs of fat to 80 lbs of fat!
- My metabolic age is still 56 (I’m only 41 as of today) which is what I started at. Still scary!
- BMI has dropped from 45.6 to 34.1.
